  FOOD FROM THE US   Apple Pie The simple combination of sugar, buttery pastry and tart sliced apples produces a dessert so extraordinary people have devoted their entire lives to perfecting it The Hamburger: Only one place is recognised by the Library of Congress as being the birthplace of hamburgers: New Haven, Connecticut. The year was 1900 and the establishment was Louis' Lunch, run by one Louis Lassen. Today his great-grandson, Jeff Lassen, guides the ship, which still serves burgers made from five-meat blend and cooked in a century-old cast iron grill.  Deep-Dish Pizza: Pizza in Chicago looks and tastes different. The dish is deep, as the name suggests, meaning the crust rises high and allows for an artery-choking volume of cheese and tomato sauce. Unsurprisingly, they call it a "pie".

Spanish Food Tortilla Española The Spanish omlette is another beloved top Spanish food. The best ones come from slow-cooking caramalised onion and potato in olive oil, which later creates a soft-sweet centre once egg is added and it is cooked into a thick omelette, almost like a cake. A tasty Spanish snack you’ll see around is a wedge of omelette squeezed between bread to make a  bocadillo  (sandwich). Pulpo a la gallega: This boiled octopus dish gets its unique flavours from maceration in three simple ingredients: paprika ( pimenton ), crusty rock salt and a drizzle of olive oil. It’s a signature Galician dish and you’ll find it on the menu in many Galician restaurants around Spain, and especially in the many  polbeiras  (octopus restaurants) dotting the Galician region. German Food  Rouladen:  This typical German food involves wrapping thinly sliced meat – usually beef but also veal or pork – around a filling of bacon or pork belly, chopped onions, pickles and usually mustard, and then browned and simmered in broth (braised). The mixture changes between regions, with some variations including minced meat. It is common to serve this dish with gravy, dumplings, mashed potato or blaukraut (cooked red cabbage) Käsespätzle:  These soft egg noodles are Germany's answer to pasta. These noodles made from wheat flour and egg are often served topped with cheese ( k ä sesp ä tzle ) – rather like macaroni cheese – and sometimes with roasted onions too. Italian Food Pasta Carbonara:  This is a combination of egg, bacon, romano and white wine tossed together with rigatoni or spaghetti noodles is a must try while in Italy . Pizza: It  is an oven-baked, flat, usually round-shaped bread covered with ingredients such as tomato sauce, cheese, olive oil and optionally other toppings. Lasagne: This is an oven-baked pasta dish consisting of layers of sheet-shaped pasta alternated with a choice of the following ingredients and sauces: cheese and/or bechamel sauce, tomato sauce, various meats (usually ground beef or pork, or a combination of the two), vegetables (zucchini, spinach).

Mexican Food Chilaquiles: It is a breakfast dish features lightly fried corn tortillas cut into quarters and topped with green or red salsa (the red is slightly spicier). Scrambled or fried eggs and pulled chicken are usually added on top, as well as cheese and cream. Tacos al pastor: This historic dish is one of the most popular varieties of tacos. To create tacos al pastor you need thin strips of pork are sliced off, placed on a corn tortilla and served with onions, coriander leaves and pineapple. Enchiladas: These days both corn and flour tortillas are used and are filled with meat, cheese, seafood, beans, vegetables or all of the above. The stuffed tortillas are then covered in a chilli sauce, making for a perfect Mexican breakfast.

French Food

French Food Soupe à l'oignon: This is a traditional French soup made of onions and beef stock, usually served with croutons and melted cheese on top. Coq au vin:  It is a dish of chicken braised with wine, mushrooms, salty pork or bacon (lardons), mushrooms, onions, often garlic and sometimes with a drop of brandy. Cassoulet: It is a comfort dish of white beans stewed slowly with meat, typically pork or duck but also sausages, goose, mutton or whatever else the chef has around.
